What a month September has been!
We are absolutely thrilled to share that our amazing Neilsons teams have successfully completed the Steptember Challenge as part of our commitment to Maggie’s Million Month. With six incredible teams pulling together, we didn’t just reach our 6 million step goal – we smashed it, recording an awesome 7,372,265 steps!
Throughout September, our teams have been clocking up miles in every way imaginable. We walked to and from work, counted steps in the office, hit the gym, explored Edinburgh’s beautiful streets, conquered hills, enjoyed scenic dog walks, and even took part in the Kiltwalk – a team of 8 took on the full 21-mile Mighty Stride, and another 3 members joined the 5-mile Wee Wander. Whether it was during holidays or staycations, we found ways to keep stepping, and the results speak for themselves, generating sponsorship so far of £3,107.
But we didn’t stop there! Last Friday, our Property Consultant Amy Howard was locked up for her “crime” of Chronic Lateness as part of Maggie’s “Jail or Bail” event. Amy embraced the challenge, spending the day “behind bars” and working tirelessly to raise her bail. Thanks to the generosity of her supporters, she raised an incredible £2,763 within the day to secure her freedom! This fun but meaningful event has brought us even closer to our fundraising goals.
More Than Just Steps – We’re Making a Difference
While our step count and fundraising totals are impressive, the real impact is made by Maggie’s. So far in September, we’ve raised an amazing £5,870 for this incredible charity, which is based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. Maggie’s provides free support to people living with cancer, as well as their families. Their centres offer professional advice, emotional support, and a compassionate community, making a huge difference in the lives of those facing cancer.
By participating in both the Steptember Challenge and Jail or Bail, we’re contributing to Maggie’s ability to continue their vital work, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who has supported us on this journey.
There’s Still Time to Help!
Although we’ve reached the end of Steptember, there’s still time to make an impact. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved, but the journey isn’t over yet! You can still support Maggie’s Edinburgh by making a donation. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps Maggie’s continue to provide free support to those who need it most.
